About

Nuro builds self-driving systems and licenses them to automakers and mobility providers. The core product is Nuro Driver, a universal autonomy platform, alongside Nuro Toolkit. Stated mission is to make autonomy accessible to all. In 2025, Nuro, Uber, and Lucid announced a Global Robotaxi Program.

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Mountain View. Co-CEOs Jiajun Zhu and Dave Ferguson were both founding members of Google's self-driving program. Ferguson previously led the planning group for Carnegie Mellon's team that won the 2007 DARPA Urban Grand Challenge.

Over five years of driverless deployments and more than 1.7M autonomous miles with zero at-fault incidents. Nuro received the first federal AV exemption in 2020 and ran its first highway operation in 2024.
