The platform is informed by over half a billion monthly active users. Mapbox describes itself as an engineering-driven technology company operating globally at scale, serving logistics, delivery, automotive, retail, travel, manufacturing, and enterprise software.

Started by a small team that needed better mapping tools and built their own. Early projects supported international development work with the United Nations, World Bank, USAID, and Doctors Without Borders. Stated vision: powering navigation for people, packages, and vehicles everywhere.
